With over five years of experience in administrative roles, Paulina joined the Aztec team in 2022 as the office assistant. She manages calendars, appointments, coordinating meetings, and handling various administrative responsibilities. Prior to that she was a stay at home mom caring and teaching her four kids.
Cyle Phelan
Cyle is a Business Administration graduate from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he concentrated in Business Analytics and played four years of collegiate baseball. In June 2025, he joined Aztec Painting and now leads the concrete coating division, overseeing operations, customer relationships, and project execution. With a strong foundation in data-driven decision-making and team leadership, he brings precision and performance to every job.
Sam Matus
With more than 20 years in the building industry, Sam brings a mastery of residential construction and remodeling that carries over into every paint project we take on from careful prep to lasting finishes. His walk with the Lord has shaped both his life and his work, guiding him to serve customers with honesty, excellence, and care. For the past 18 years, Sam has been an active part of Crossway Wilmington, where he now serves on the board, and he also serves on the board of Global Education Ministries (GEM). His dedication to faith and community reflects the heart behind our business: to treat every customer like a customer for life while giving back to the community we proudly call home.
Saul Matus
Saul Matus is our current Operations Manager, and has been with the company since 2019. He also has been involved in some aspect of the construction industry for most of his professional life. He is a husband and a father. His family is heavily involved in the homeschool community, where he helps coach a soccer team and even teaches Spanish sometimes. He is originally from Mexico City, but has lived in the greater Wilmington area since 1996. Though his native country has a special place in his heart, he loves this wonderful country of ours and is thankful for the freedoms and opportunities it provides. He hopes to continue to help Aztec Painting grow and see it become the leading painting company in this area.
